A New Year of Boys Love. The Final Chapter is Here.

As the year comes to an end, so does the writing of my first novella. I just posted the final chapter of La Playa Blanca. It will be posted here as a  free read for a while, yet, while I decide where I want to sub it. I feel strangely sad now that it's finished and a little confused. On the one hand, I feel like this calls for a party, and on the other, I feel like partying would be inappropriate, since I have to say goodbye to these characters I've grown to love.

For those who have enjoyed the story, not to worry, I have an idea for Captain Jim's tale, and I'm playing with stories for several of the other characters, too. Shane and Andrew will definitely be a part of these. In the meantime, I have started several unrelated M/M contemporary romances, so it promises to be a Happy New Year of boys love over at Casa Corlies.

I hope you will enjoy reading La Playa Blanca as much as I enjoyed writing it. Many thanks go out again to my fabulous editors and beta readers, Andi Lea, West Thornhill and G.H. Worth for all of their advice, and to my early beta readers Cherie Noel and Kortny Alexander. You ladies are all awesome sauce with extra awesome on the side!

    Beta Readers are the Bomb!

Before I get back to those pesky edits on the novella, I have to throw out kudos to my beta readers and my editors. They have been busy bees this week. Manuscripts are coming back riddled with red ink, just as I expected. Rather then being upset by this, I am excited to know my little novella is going to come through this even stronger and more prepared to take on the cold, hard world out there. It pays to have friends and fellow writers who know how to give good constructive criticism. So, I must take a quick moment to thank all of my editors and beta readers. You are the bomb!

Also, I have to give a quick congratulatory shout out to a couple of my favorite artists, Rick R. Reed and Paul Richmond. I just noticed the cover for Rick's new book, Caregiver, over at Jessewave. I think it's exquisite. If you have not given Paul Richmond's art a look, I highly recommend that you stop over at his website and take a peek. I guess I'll be adding another book to the wish list.

Again, there are free reads over at West Thornhill's place. Go read them.

And, last but not least, check out the fantastically cheesy video over at All Hallows Read and join Neil Gaiman by helping to start a new Halloween tradition.

    Firstborn

Well, I just finished my first contemporary M/M romance novella. I feel like I've given birth. The bouncing boy currently weighs in at 23, 339 words and is 53 pages single spaced. The current name is La Playa Blanca. When I say it's finished, I have edited it numerous times, and finally feel it's ready to share with my beta readers. So, there will presumably be some more changes to make after they comment. I have sent it off to the best friend and honorary Godmother tonight for comments, and will most likely be sending it out to the rest of my writer's group tomorrow night. I'm somewhere between feeling elated and exhausted and frankly a little sad. I really love those boys. I'm sad to have our time together drawing to a close. I feel like I imagine one feels when their firstborn finally leaves home. Let's hope he goes out there and makes something of himself, a shining star among all those other novellas. Of course, as his Mother, I'm simply proud of him regardless. LOL! I'm off to bed. I'll need some sleep if I'm going to hang with the Divas at Godfrey's tomorrow. Oh, hell, it's already 1:20 AM. I guess I mean today. Where does the time go?
